United States Agency for International Development Administrator Mark Green met today with the Honorable Julie Bishop, the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs. They discussed strengthening U.S.-Australian cooperation in innovation, women's empowerment, humanitarian assistance, global and regional health security, and private-sector engagement. They voiced shared concerns over the ongoing violence in the Rakhine State in Burma, and stressed the importance of unfettered humanitarian access to help victims. Administrator Green also thanked the Minister for Australia's partnership in promoting social entrepreneurship and innovative funding to improve the lives of the poorest people in developing countries.
