Today, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) launched its new Land Governance Activity that will strengthen policy, management, and administration to improve land tenure and rights for farmers and pastoralists in Ethiopia. USAID Mission Director Sean Jones, State Minister of Urban Development and Construction Tazer Gebre Egziabiher, and Tigistu Gebremeskel, Director of Land Administration and Use at the Ministry of Agriculture inaugurated the new project, which is part of a collaborative U.S.-Ethiopia partnership to strengthen land governance over the past 15 years.

United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director Sean Jones and the Honorable State Minister of Health Saharla Abdulahi officially inaugurated the new $5 million National Blood Bank Services headquarters building during a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new facility will provide the National Blood Bank Services with the capacity to receive a much-increased volume of blood donations, screen and process blood products more efficiently, and distribute life-saving blood to health centers and patients throughout the country.

The United States, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), partnered with DuPont Water Solutions and the Afar Regional State government to unveil a state-of-the-art reverse osmosis water system in the community of Serdo. U.S. Ambassador Michael A. Raynor and Afar Regional State President Awol Arba jointly inaugurated the new water system, which will provide the first-ever sustainable source of safe drinking water for more than 2,000 people in the area.
