U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green and other USAID officials will travel to the Republic of Colombia from February 15 to February 18 to visit the border with Venezuela. He will tour the warehouse where the United States has been pre-positioning humanitarian commodities to provide relief to Venezuelans who are coping with severe shortages of food and medicine caused by the mismanagement and tyranny of Nicolás Maduro. While in Colombia, he will also meet with USAID staff who are working with governments in the region and humanitarian partners, including non-governmental and faith-based organizations, to help ensure these emergency supplies reach the most-vulnerable populations.

The illegitimate, so-called "inauguration" of Maduro to a second, six-year term is the result of last May's fraudulent voting exercise, condemned by Venezuelan and international observers because it did not reflect true democratic principles and practices.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), represented by Acting Deputy Administrator David Moore, and the Secretariat for the Aid of Persecuted Christians of the Government of Hungary, represented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Levente Magyar, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Tuesday, December 18, 2018. The objective of the MOU is to increase coordination to help communities in the Middle East recover from genocide and persecution by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
