U.S. Agency for International Development Administrator Mark Green traveled to Haiti from December 18-21. During his visit, the Administrator toured USAID-funded programs in health, agriculture, and entrepreneurship, and met with representatives from the Haitian Government, the private sector, donor partners, and faith-based organizations.

In his meetings with Haitian President Jovenel Moïse and Prime Minister Jean-Henry Céant, Administrator Green underscored the importance of transparent and citizen-responsive governance. In addition, Administrator Green stressed the need for budgetary reforms to promote stability in Haiti, which, in turn, will help foster long-term economic opportunities. While in Haiti, the Administrator also thanked local and U.S. faith-based organizations for their commitment to the Haitian people, and welcomed their input on how best to help the country to advance on its development journey, especially in the health and education sectors.

USAID is working with our partners to build a stable and economically viable Haiti, with a focus on promoting resiliency, boosting economic growth, creating jobs, providing basic health care and education, strengthening food security, and improving the capacity and effectiveness of the Haitian Government.
