Investing for Peace Fund

Speeches Shim

USAID/Colombia and leading social investor Acumen established the Investing for Peace Fund, aimed at attracting private investment to conflict affected regions.  This initiative, which is Acumen's first-ever agreement with USAID, seeks to invest in pioneering enterprises that operate in conflict-affected municipalities of Colombia to generate wealth, employment and improved incomes for the rural poor.  The program will deploy $4 million in financing to for-profit social enterprises that are addressing issues of extreme and multidimensional poverty.  The fund will also support enterprises with targeted technical assistance to increase the likelihood of success as they scale up.  As a result, USAID/Colombia expects eight investments that will directly impact at least 1,500 households (approximately 6,000 people).
