USAID is a leading donor agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and manages more than half of the total U.S. assistance program there. It is also a leader in coordinating efforts with other U.S. Government and international partners to scale development impact.
Some say that, next to all the other social and economic challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina, LGBTI rights are not a priority. USAID says human rights are always a priority. USAID stands at the forefront of the fight for full and equal rights for LGBTI people in BiH to ensure that the country’s LGBTI citizens and advocates do not stand alone.
Through this program, USAID supports activities of local organizations that advocate for the rights, empowerment and dignity of underrepresented groups of society.
Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) must meet European standards and criteria to become a candidate for EU accession and become an attractive destination for private foreign and domestic investment.
USAID is committed to key principles and practices that foster a results-oriented culture within the Agency, and makes every effort to ensure strong oversight of its assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
