On July 4-5, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green met with representatives of partner countries and organizations during the G7 Development Ministerial and the Joint G7 Education and Development Ministerial in Paris, France. He discussed food security, fragility, education, and opportunities for youth, especially for girls and those in the Sahel; maximizing donor coordination; supporting partner countries' ability to finance their own development agendas; and improving the enabling environment for the private sector to play an increased role in development.

He highlighted USAID's increasing presence in Niger to support the country's Journey to Self-Reliance and the role the United States and other development partners are playing in helping achieve peace and security in the Sahel.

Administrator Green also discussed USAID's development frameworks around the Countering Malign Kremlin Influence Initiative and Prosper Africa that will guide future USAID programming in Europe and Eurasia and Africa.

During the G7, the Administrator met separately with the following leaders/advocates:

  • The Honorable Aichatou Boulama Kané Minister of Planning of Niger;
  • The Honorable Rory Stewart, Secretary of State for International Development of the United Kingdom;
  • The Honorable Maryam Monsef, Minister for International Development and Minister for Women and Gender Equality of Canada;
  • Ms. Malala Yousafzai, Founder of the Malala Fund.
