Overview
The objective of SAAF is to strengthen the capacity of the Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Science at Afghan universities. SAAF’s primary partner is Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and the program is collaborating closely with the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL). With a view to achieving these goals, the program has supported a limited number of Masters and Ph.D. scholarships for Afghan professionals. However, the scope of the program was reduced in the summer of 2012 due to reduced budgets availability and duplication of donor efforts. SAAF will not undertake additional scholarships or activities, but will continue to support students already awarded scholarships to pursue higher-level degrees in the United States and India through 2016.
