USAID continues to build government capacity: USAID’s SEPPA project partner, the International Republican Institute (IRI), is working to build capacity among government and the parliament to strengthen their institutional capacity to devise and implement data-based and responsive policies and improve strategic communications. Through staff “schools,” IRI trains the National Assembly and Government Ministries staff on topics including practices for advancing policy research, data analysis, management, and communications skills. In 2020, 144 participants from the government and 53 from the National Assembly took part in 20 training sessions organized by IRI. Acting Mission Director David Hoffman congratulated graduates during a virtual graduation ceremony on December 18. IRI will continue conducting these trainings in the coming year.
