TIRANA, ALBANIA     On July 31, Prime Minister Rama signed the National Energy Sector Strategy 2017-2030 that calls for the regional integration and diversification of the sector and is designed to provide consumers with a stable, reliable and affordable energy supply. Developed with the support of USAID’s Enhancing Capacity for Low Emission Development Strategies (EC-LEDS) program, the strategy is consistent with Albania’s efforts to sustain economic development and meet commitments to the Energy Community, European Union (EU) integration and other international agreements, while increasing the security of the energy supply and minimizing environmental impacts.

Since 2013, USAID's EC-LEDS has provided support to the Government of Albania to develop Albania’s National Energy Strategy for 2017-2030 - a comprehensive and integrated approach to meeting Albania's future energy demand that aims to align the country's energy market with EU rules and directives in a bid to advance the country's EU integration prospects and to improve Albania's energy independence.
