Tanzanian youth have the potential to play a key role in the economic development of their country, but for the 800,000 young people who enter the Tanzanian workforce each year, employment remains a challenge. The Feed the Future Tanzania Advancing Youth activity connects youth to entrepreneurship training, technical skills building, leadership development, healthy lifestyle cultivation, and employment opportunities. The activity aims to increase income opportunities for 21,500 young people through rigorous, professional training and matching youth to formal and informal jobs.

After trainings from Advancing Youth on establishing youth lending and savings groups, a young man from Rungwe, Southern Tanzania established three youth-focused credit associations, vied for a position as loan manager for his district’s youth development fund – and won!

Nilumba Ngogo used to worry that her uncle would one day claim the four acres of land she inherited from her parents. As a result, she only used a small plot for subsistence farming and never invested in more profitable cash crops. For Martha Paulo Mwilongo, a land dispute with her neighbor kept her from selling or renting part of her 11 acres to earn extra income. For Janet Jailos, disagreement among her family members over land ownership resulted in several fields being uncultivated.

Dar es Salaam - On February 22, 2019, the United States Government partnered with the Tanzanian Government and 12 civil society organizations to strengthen the delivery of health services in the regions of Iringa, Njombe, Morogoro, Lindi and Mtwara. The United States’ Government’s donation of 2,160 bicycles will increase community health volunteers’ ability to provide services to HIV-positive clients in remote areas to improve access to lifesaving HIV care and treatment services.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, posts this Request for Information (RFI) to inform Tanzanian Organizations an upcoming natural resources management activity designed to strengthen capacity to manage natural resources in the Rukwa region. The purpose of this RFI is to 1) solicit feedback on the draft concept and 2) identify qualified Tanzanian organizations capable of implementing the program.
