United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green met today with His Excellency Zied Ladhari, M.P., Minister of Development, Investment, and International Cooperation for the Republic of Tunisia.
They noted the deep partnership between the United States and Tunisia, and the importance of continued progress to consolidate democratic reforms and promote economic growth, especially by creating entrepreneurial opportunity.
Administrator Green and Minister Ladhari discussed Tunisia's vision for economic development, including key reforms, local economic development, and creating jobs for Tunisian youth. The Administrator affirmed USAID's support for Tunisia, and noted the achievements of USAID programs that support Tunisia's vision and transition.
The Administrator and the Minister discussed the role of Tunisia's forthcoming local elections and decentralization process in improving citizen-centered government services and local economic development, and highlighted the importance of engaging youth and women in political dialogue and economic opportunity.
