United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green will travel to Mexico City from October 25-27 to announce new areas of cooperation between the United States and Mexico in Central America and survey USAID projects, including technical assistance provided after the September 19, 2017, earthquake in Mexico City.

While in Mexico City, Administrator Green will meet with officials from the Government of Mexico to reiterate the commitment of the United States to work with Mexico to advance prosperity and good governance in Central America. These areas of enhanced trilateral cooperation are a result of discussions between the United States and Mexico at the Conference on Security and Prosperity in Central America, co-hosted by the two governments in Miami in June 2017.

The Administrator will discuss disaster-preparedness with the Mexican Director-General for Civil Protection, and visit sites where USAID assisted in urban search-and-rescue efforts and conducted structural assessments after the September earthquake. Administrator Green will engage with other donors and leaders of the private sector and civil society, and will visit an activity aimed at preventing recidivism among young offenders. In addition, the Administrator will meet with USAID Mission staff and colleagues from the U.S. Embassy.

Sarah-Ann Lynch, Acting Assistant Administrator for USAID's Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean, will accompany Administrator Green.
