LuzonHealth (Integrated Maternal, Neonatal, Child Health and Nutrition/Family Planning Regional Project in Luzon) is a five-year United States Agency for International Development health service strengthening project implemented by RTI International. The project supports the Department of Health (DOH)-led scale-up of high-impact services and client-centered information to reduce maternal and infant deaths, improve child health and nutrition and meet the demand for modern family planning services.

The success of Afghanistan’s democracy depends on institutions and processes that advance political stability, promote peaceful transitions of power, and reinforce government legitimacy through the informed participation of Afghan citizens in free and fair elections. The Strengthening Political Entities and Civil Society project promoted citizen engagement with political parties, coalitions, and candidates, while also assisting civil society to advocate for policy positions by government institutions. USAID support to political actors and civil society fostered more opportunities for women to participate and serve as elected leaders in Afghanistan.

he West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF/WECARD) was created in 1987 to “improve the efficiency and effectiveness of small-scale producers and to promote the agribusiness sector.” It has 21 member states in West and Central Africa: eight in the Sahel, eight in coastal countries and five in Central Africa.

The shea industry in West Africa is rapidly expanding. Demand for shea butter produced in the region has nearly doubled in the past ten years, and shea is now an important ingredient in food and cosmetic products worldwide. The industry is centered on women; more than 16 million rural women in Africa contribute to their household incomes by collecting and processing shea kernels.  

Established in September 2011, the Borderless Alliance (BA) represents a private sector-led coalition to increase trade in West Africa and foster change by exposing trade inefficiencies throughout the region.

The U.S. Agency for International Development-funded Lower Mekong Initiative (LMI) Food Security Donor Mapping activity helps increase coordination and connectivity throughout the LMI region. The grant will support the Mekong Institute to map agriculture and food security activities in the Lower Mekong Region. The goal is to provide regional donors and stakeholders with information regarding priorities and programs in the food security sector.
