On January 26, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced $89 million in additional development assistance to Nigeria to continue its support for development goals outlined in a Development Objectives Assistance Agreement between the U.S. and Nigerian governments signed in 2015.
Since 2014, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has provided a peaceful environment for basic education and psycho-social support to more than 80,000 out-of-school youth in five conflict-affected states in northeast Nigeria. Many of these children and youth, particularly girls and the physically challenged, have been traumatized by violence and are unable to access mainstream education.

On October 20, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) marked the successful conclusion of the three year, $3 million Feed the Future Nigeria Agro-Inputs Activity. The activity built the capacity of agro-inputs dealers to provide extension advisory services to farmers and to compensate for a shortfall of public extension agents in the Federal Capital Territory and seven target states. Interventions focused on the maize, sorghum, rice, and cassava value chains.
On October 4, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced an additional $17 million in development assistance to fulfill the goals outlined in its 2015 Development Objectives Assistance Agreement with the Government of Nigeria. This brings the total of development assistance provided under this agreement to $719 million.
On September 12, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) successfully completed its five year activity aimed at boosting trade and investment in Nigeria. The USAID-funded Nigeria Expanded Trade and Transport (NEXTT) activity brought together private sector traders, processors, business service providers, and government entities to advance the trade facilitation goals of the Nigerian government.

The U.S. government, through the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is committed to raising awareness about the proper prevention, diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
