Reducing the Burden of Malaria

Speeches Shim

The President’s Malaria Initiative invests in saving millions of lives in 16 African countries through the Africa Indoor Residual Spraying project (AIRS) project. Through this project, insecticide is sprayed on the walls, ceilings, and other indoor places to kill mosquitoes and prevent malaria. In Zimbabwe, USAID support focuses on homes in Manicaland Province, which reports the highest number of malaria cases in the country. The project follows strict USG guidance to kill mosquitoes while still protecting families and the environment from harmful exposure to insecticide.
