This animation on building resilience in East Africa tells the story of a fictional character Isaack, and his family of seven, and their struggle to maintain their livelihood. This is amidst various challenges related to health, erratic weather patterns, and conflicts over shared natural resources, which often make survival difficult in this region. While fictional, Isaack and his family's story is illustrative of the reality of the struggle for resilience here. For example, in 2011 more than 12 million people in the Horn of Africa were affected by drought, disease, conflict, and loss of livelihood. It is no longer a question of if droughts will happen, but when they will. Watch the video to learn more about how we can plan better for these shocks and help prevent crises.
