I’m Mark Green, Administrator for the U.S. Agency for International Development. I have the honor to be standing here with the honorable Juan Guaidó, interim President of Venezuela. USAID is committed to supporting the people of Venezuela and the legitimately elected National Assembly. Mr. President I know there is misinformation that’s out there. But as you know, we actually don’t work through your government. We work through NGOs. We work through groups that are on the ground - faith-based organizations and civil society groups who stand with the people of Venezuela trying to restore prosperity and democracy. Interim President Guaidó: I wanted to thank the United States Government, of course, the USAID Agency for all the support they give to NGOs, to organized groups in Venezuela to recover and rescue our democracy. The dictatorship will try to keep lying but we will stand firm in addressing the complex humanitarian emergency, the refugee crisis in the region and, above all, rescue democracy and freedom in Venezuela. We support you and your government as you seek to restore democracy to Venezuela. Estamos con ustedes!
