U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Acting Administrator John Barsa today reaffirmed the support of the United States for religious freedom in Cuba. Speaking at an event titled, "Religious Groups in Cuba: An Emerging Social Force," hosted by the International Republican Institute, Acting Administrator Barsa emphasized the vital role that religious groups play in every free society. The Acting Administrator also reiterated that religious freedom is a fundamental human right and a top priority for USAID, as mandated by the Executive Order on Advancing International Religious Freedom signed by President Trump in June 2020.
At the event, the Acting Administrator discussed the critical work of religious groups in Cuba, the lengths to which the Castro regime will go to silence those who oppose it, and the challenges that face groups who seek to help Cubans on the island. The Acting Administrator was honored to join Pastor Mario Félix Lleonart Barroso, independent journalist Roberto Quiñones, and Dr. Teo Babún.

El administrador interino de la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional reafirma el apoyo de los Estados Unidos a la libertad religiosa en Cuba
El Administrador Interino de USAID, John Barsa, reafirmó hoy el apoyo de los Estados Unidos a la libertad religiosa en Cuba. Hablando en un evento titulado, "Grupos religiosos en Cuba: una fuerza social emergente," organizado por el Instituto Republicano Internacional, el Administrador Interino Barsa enfatizó el papel vital que juegan los grupos religiosos en todas las sociedades libres. El Administrador interino también reiteró que la libertad religiosa es un derecho humano fundamental y una prioridad para la USAID, según la Orden Ejecutiva sobre el Fomento de la Libertad Religiosa Internacional, firmada por el presidente Trump en junio de 2020.
En el evento, el Administrador Interino habló sobre la labor crítica de los grupos religiosos en Cuba, los extremos a los que llegará el régimen castrista para silenciar a quienes se oponen y los desafíos que enfrentan los grupos que buscan ayudar a los cubanos en la isla. El Administrador Interino tuvo el honor de acompañar al Pastor Mario Félix Lleonart Barroso, al periodista independiente Roberto Quiñones y al Dr. Teo Babún.
