USAID extends its congratulations to Mirova Natural Capital and SITAWI for winning Impact Awards from Environmental Finance for 2020. USAID is proud to have made investments to support both Mirova's Althelia Biodiversity Fund, winner of "Fund of the Year" in the category of "Multi-Asset/Other," and SITAWI's Impact Crowdlending platform, winner of "Impact Initiative of the Year - Latin America and Caribbean." Parabéns!

These awards are a recognition of the critical role that the private sector plays in conserving biodiversity while also advancing prosperity through responsible economic development. USAID has made development led by the private sector a cornerstone of USAID's Private-Sector Engagement Policy, because this is key to sustainable development worldwide.

Mirova's Althelia Biodiversity Fund and SITAWI's Impact Crowdlending fund fill a crucial financing gap by providing access to credit and investments that will strengthen entrepreneurship, innovation, start-ups, and sustainable value-chains in the Amazon. The United States and Brazil remain committed to a private-sector-led, financially viable, and scalable approach that is critical to developing economic opportunities for local communities while also protecting the Amazon's precious natural resources and biodiversity.
