Today, Chief Assistant to the Acting Deputy Administrator Max Primorac and the Foreign Minister of the State of Kuwait, His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, Ph.D., signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED).

This agreement provides a framework for future collaboration between USAID and KFAED to achieve shared development goals.  It marks yet another milestone in USAID’s strategic engagement with Gulf donor agencies that are active across the Middle East and elsewhere, and follows the signing of a similar agreement with the Government of the United Arab Emirates last month.

KFAED and USAID are natural partners.  Both agencies were created in 1961, and invest in health, education, water and sanitation, energy, infrastructure, and transportation throughout the region.  USAID looks forward to working with our Kuwaiti counterparts to identify opportunities for partnership and cooperation in development assistance in the Middle East and beyond.
