The following is attributable to Spokesperson Tom Babington:
On July 15, 2019, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green met with the Honorable Alexandra Hill, Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Republic of El Salvador. In the meeting, the Administrator stressed the urgent need for the Government of El Salvador to continue to take action to reduce illegal immigration to the United States from El Salvador. Administrator Green praised President Nayib Bukele's willingness to take ownership of and confront the issues driving illegal migration from his country, including through his embrace of private sector-led growth and strengthened rule of law.
