On behalf of the U.S Agency for International Development, I congratulate Luis Abinader on his election as President of the Dominican Republic and welcome his commitment to combating corruption and enhancing transparency.

The United States and the Dominican Republic have a strong, long-standing partnership. We look forward to working with President-Elect Abinader to advance our mutual interests, such as fostering greater economic development, expanding access to education, fighting corruption, and promoting transparency. We also look forward to continuing our focus and collaboration with the Dominican Government to treat patients with COVID-19 and prevent the further transmission of the disease. Together, we can maintain safe communities, expand economic opportunities, and strengthen mutual business ties for Dominican and U.S. citizens.
