The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) congratulates Dr. Michael Kremer, Co-Founder and Scientific Director of USAID's Development Innovation Ventures (DIV) program, on receiving the 2019 Nobel Prize in Economics on December 10, 2019, in Stockholm, Sweden.
Through the DIV program, Dr. Kremer helps USAID use evidence-driven approaches to take small risks, identify what works, and scale those approaches to provide greater impact, which helps partners on the Journey to Self-Reliance. Since 2010, over 200 DIV-financed innovations have directly affected more than 30 million lives across 46 countries.
USAID is honored and proud of Dr. Kremer's ground-breaking work in international development and his contribution to alleviating poverty worldwide.
