Through USAID’s Justice System Strengthening Program, the Kosovo judiciary has made great strides in responding to citizens’ needs.  With the launch of the My Court webpage, the public can now directly access online court services, legal aid contacts, frequently asked questions, job openings, and several other resources.  In the past, Kosovo citizens have often described the judiciary as an institution that is distant and inaccessible.

At the My Court webpage launch, USAID Kosovo Mission Director, Lisa Magno, explained the citizen-centered approach that USAID and the Kosovo courts have taken to address citizens’ needs.  In her words, “It means you save time because the information is easily accessible.  It means you understand the information because it is clearly and consistently explained.  It means you are empowered as Kosovo courts become more transparent.  That’s what a citizen-centered approach is.  It’s about you and serving you better.”

Every component of the webpage is designed so that Kosovo citizens can easily access information on the courts.  The webpage is available in English, Albanian, and Serbian and can be accessed via gjykataime.org.  It has an intuitive and user-friendly interface that allows citizens to locate and access critical tools and resources with just a few clicks.  Online services are available, such as certificate requests, court-fee calculators, and complaint forms, saving citizens trips to the court.  In the legal aid section, citizens can find phone and online contact information for attorneys, free legal aid, mediators, notaries, and more.  There are guides for various legal procedures to understand better what processes to expect at court and several other resources and tools.
