On October 24th and 25th, the Vocational Career Center based in Tangier participated as a partner and service provider in the "Textile and Garment Employment Forum” organized by the Moroccan Association of Textile and Clothing Industry (AMITH). This event aimed to encourage youth to enter the job market by connecting them to recruiters and employers in the textile industry.

12 companies participated in this event to meet the candidates, answer their questions, and conduct job interviews with 125 graduates from the Specialized Institute of Applied Technology in Textile and Confection (ISTA TC). Throughout the event, USAID Career Center offered career advice and on-site coaching, held a CV editing workshop, and invited participants to visit the nearest Career Center and sign up on the Virtual Career Center (www.careercenter.ma) to benefit from more services. Through this effort, the Career Center was able to reach out to 50 youth (40% of participants).

Prior to the event, from October 10th - 19th, the Career Center invested all its human resources in helping potential participants in the event know what to expect and what recruiters expect from them.  An interview preparation workshop was held for a total of 20 youth who planned to participate in the forum. In this workshop, they learned how to write and properly present their CVs in order to meet the recruiters’ expectations and stand out from the competition.

In addition, on October 18th - 20th, around 20 trainees from the ISTA TC benefited from a three-day My Kit for Employment training to prepare to meet employers and plan their professional futures. During this training, the beneficiaries learned how to write a cover letter and a CV, be prepared for future job interviews, and most importantly, they had the opportunity to conduct an analysis of their existing skills and identify the skills they need to improve. They also used these three days to reflect on their professional objectives and learn how to construct a career plan.

Through this kind of initiative, USAID Career Center helps youth construct an effective, long-term vision for a bright and successful future.
