Nalut, a small town in the Nafusa Mountains in northwestern Libya, takes considerable efforts to ensure their municipal election candidates represent the community’s diverse demographic, including women and disabled veterans. In Nalut, as in other Libyan municipalities, USAID supports the Central Committee for Municipal Council Elections and municipal councils in raising awareness about the voter registration process as well as the electoral system in general to ensure transparency and that every voice is heard.
