The Private Health Sector Assessment and Health Care Federation Establishment in Liberia (PSE) will support the Government of Liberia and its development partners to better understand and strengthen the private health sector, and work with private actors so they are better positioned to partner with the GOL and other stakeholders  on the country’s healthcare reform agenda.  The goal of the activity is to bring together key private health sector actors (Faith Based Organizations, non-government organization, and for-profit entities) to form the nucleus of a Liberian Healthcare Federation.  PSE will also assist key private sector players to address health systems challenges with the aim of improving the quality of care 

Current Activities

Conduct a Private Sector Landscape Assessment

  • Conduct a scoping trip to define policy issues and detailed methodology for the assessment
  • Develop data collection tools, analysis plans, and conduct landscape assessment.
  • Develop and document findings and disseminate alongside private sector and GOL champions

Establish the Liberia Healthcare Federation (LHF)

  • Convene initial meetings in Monrovia to create momentum towards forming the LHF
  • Develop the LHF organizational plans and structure, and launch the LHF
  • Support sensitization and learning for LHF leadership

Strengthen quality of care in the private sector by addressing key health systems challenges

  • Prioritize issues to address with input and guidance from private sector actors; and
  • Provide technical assistance to address the prioritized issue(s)
