The U.S. Agency for International Development congratulates the Prime Minister of The Federal Republic of Ethiopia, The Honorable Abiy Ahmed, on being this year's recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. The award highlights Prime Minister Abiy's "efforts to achieve peace and international cooperation, and, in particular, for his decisive initiative to resolve the border conflict with neighbouring Eritrea." We join in celebration as Prime Minister Abiy is bestowed this prestigious award. The United States remains fully committed to supporting Ethiopians as they implement their democratic and economic reforms and to play a vital role in the region.
