The following is attributable to Acting Deputy Spokesperson Ryan Essman:
Yesterday, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green met with Michelle Nunn, President and CEO of CARE USA to discuss the long-lasting partnership between USAID and CARE, which includes humanitarian aid and work on health, economic development, governance, women's empowerment, innovation, resilience, and water programs. Administrator Green welcomed CARE's commitment to coordinate with USAID on the Women's Global Development and Prosperity (W-GDP) Initiative, which will include the promotion of education and training for women and girls, support for women's entrepreneurship, and the facilitation of women's participation in the economy. The Administrator also highlighted USAID's new and different ways to answer development and humanitarian challenges, especially for the nearly 70 million people forcibly displaced from their homes, including millions of Venezuelans.
Administrator Green extended deepest condolences from USAID to the CARE International community for the loss of current and former CARE employees on Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 on Sunday, March 10.
