On September 8, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green will travel to The Bahamas, where the U.S. Government is responding to Hurricane Dorian. During his visit, Administrator Green will travel to the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Dorian.

A USAID Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) is on the ground in The Bahamas to lead the U.S. Government's humanitarian response to this devastating Category 5 storm, the strongest ever to hit the islands. To date, more than 47 metric tons of USAID supplies have arrived in The Bahamas from our warehouse in Miami to help an estimated 44,000 people. In addition, USAID partner Bahamas Red Cross will distribute USAID-funded relief items, including hygiene kits, portable stoves, and towels, to people affected by the hurricane.

Working closely with the Government of The Bahamas and U.S. interagency partners, the DART will continue to identify priority needs and work with partners to provide assistance to people affected by Hurricane Dorian on the Northern Bahamian islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama. We continue to stand with the people of The Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian and are committed to reaching them with life-saving assistance.
