Through the Water and Development Alliance (WADA), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Coca-Cola Foundation and Water & Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) Are supporting the city's utility, JIRAMA, to reduce water losses from burst pipes. The team sets out to investigate... Water is a precious resource and we need to ensure that it is not wasted. And our team makes sure of it. Ms. Maryna who lives in this community reported that there is no water available in her home. I'm going to have a look. Maryna is one of the nearly 350 residents affected by this burst pipe. We are now here, it's time to get to work. We'll do our best to find and solve the problem. The residents here are facing a lot of problems due to the burst pipe. Hopefully, we can get this problem fixed today. The team goes back to check if water is flowing. Leaks like this can mean whole streets losing water supply. When you add up the impact of all the leaks, it can really limit our ability to extend the water network to new communities. So our job is crucial. Jacques Daniel, Non-revenue Water Manager, JIRAMA The supply of water in Antananarivo is experiencing difficult times. At JIRAMA, we are aspiring to cut water losses by 20% to 30%. This will provide hundreds of thousands of people with clean water. Water is fundamental to life on our planet. We must look after it carefully, to support human well-being and promote inclusive growth. William and Jacques are at the forefront of the city's efforts to preserve this precious resource. Thanks to the WADA project, we are able to address this problem. USAID, the Coca-Cola Foundation, and WSUP are proud to support Madagascar in its efforts to build a water-secure future. Through the WADA project over 450,000 people will receive improved water and sanitation services. The project also increases economic opportunities, especially for women.
