This week, the United States Government is handing over three newly constructed Health Centers to the Amhara Regional Health Bureau. The new health centers were constructed through U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Ethiopia Health Infrastructure Program, which is funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). As a result, more than 75,000 people in Welela Bahir, Addis Bete Christian, Dabat and surrounding areas will have better access to essential health services, including immunizations for children, safe childbirth delivery, HIV care and treatment services, and more.
The U.S. Government has provided new school materials for 147,000 displaced children in Oromia, Somali, and SNNP regional states. Through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), this effort is aimed at protecting vulnerable children’s rights to education following internal conflicts that have displaced approximately 2 million people in Ethiopia.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through its Livestock Market Development activity, today handed over approximately $800,000 (nearly 18.4 million Ethiopian Birr) worth of dairy processing equipment to 24 grantees operating in the Amhara, Oromia, SNNP and Tigray regions. Through these grants, thousands of smallholder farmers will have access to reliable buyers, and tens of thousands of consumers will gain access to formally processed dairy and meat products.

The facility will serve more than 25,000 people in Finchawa and surrounding areas.
The Bako Farm Service Center, established via a public-private partnership to expand Ethiopian smallholders’ access to supplies, marked its grand opening today. It is the first of 20 centers to open through the Feed the Future Ethiopia Commercial Farm Services Project, implemented by the ATA in collaboration with the ministry and regional bureaus of Agriculture and Natural Resources, with financial support from the USAID and technical support from Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and DuPont announced that the Advanced Maize Seed Adoption Program (AMSAP), a public-private partnership between USAID, DuPont and the Government of Ethiopia, exceeded its goal by 150 percent to boost maize productivity among smallholder farmers and increase food production for Ethiopian communities.
On Friday, March 31, Ethio Resource Group PLC, a grantee of the U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF), officially commissioned Ethiopia’s first privately-owned wind-powered mini-grid at a ceremony attended by officials from the federal and woreda (district) governments as well as other key stakeholders.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) today announced the successful completion of the U.S.-funded Urban HIV Nutrition and Food Security Project. Over the past five years, the project improved the nutritional, economic, and food security status of people living with HIV. The project increased school enrollment of food-insecure orphan and vulnerable children from 80 to 97 percent, and boosted the participation of pregnant and lactating women living with HIV in services aimed at eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Management Sciences for Health, and the Ministry of Health marked the successful completion of USAID’s System for Improved Access to Pharmaceuticals and Services Activity. The activity strengthened pharmaceutical management, supported the development of treatment guidelines and health facility standards, and reduced waste and corruption in the pharmaceutical sector. The result was improved access to quality pharmaceutical services that ensure the safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medicines to achieve better health outcomes for Ethiopians.
