The purpose of this template is to provide a preliminary review of the reasonably foreseeable effects on the environment of the USAID intervention described therein and recommend determinations and, as appropriate, conditions, for these activities. This template also documents the results of the project/activity level Climate Risk Management (CRM) process in accordance with USAID policy (specifically, ADS 201 mandatory reference 201mal). 

The IEE's environmental analysis is a critical element of USAID’s mandatory environmental review and compliance process meant to achieve environmentally-sound activity design and implementation. Potential environmental impacts or climate risks should be addressed through formal Environmental Mitigation and Monitoring Plans (EMMPs).

The IEE template should also be used for project/activity amendments.
