Appropriations
  • Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2015 (p. 128 STAT. 2673) 
    Of the funds appropriated by this Act, not less than $382,500,000 shall be made available for water and sanitation supply projects pursuant to the Senator Paul Simon Water for the Poor Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-121), of which not less than $145,000,000 should be for programs in sub-Saharan Africa, and of which not less than $12,500,000 shall be made available for programs to design and build safe, public latrines in Africa and Asia.
     
  • Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Bill, 2016 (sec 7060 (c) (3), SR 114-79, p. 69-70) 
    The Act recommends not less than $400,000,000 shall be made available for sustainable water supply and sanitation projects pursuant to the Senator Paul Simon Water for the Poor Act of 2005, as amended (Public Law 109–121), of which not less than $145,000,000 is for programs and activities in sub-Saharan Africa. The Committee intends these funds to be used for programs to provide safe drinking water and sanitation for rural and urban communities where water scarcity or contamination poses serious risks to human health, with an emphasis on drought prone regions of Africa. The act provides not less than $14,000,000 to implement a multi-year plan to address this vulnerability in Africa and Asia, and the USAID Administrator is directed to consult with the Committee prior to the obligation of funds for such purpose.
