The Juvenile Court Project(JCP)  has marked a significant milestone with the adoption by the T&T Government of new protocols governing cases involving children in conflict with the law. The Multi-Agency and Inter-Agency Protocols were signed  on July 11, 2017, by representatives of nine Government agencies including the T&T Police and Prisons,  Tobago House of Assembly, The Children’s Authority, Ministry of Education, Office of the Director of Public Prosecution and the Probation Department. The Protocols will allow the relevant agencies to operationalize the provisions within the Children’s package of legislation as well within the new Judge’s Rules for Children 2016. The two sets of protocols will ensure that cases involving children in conflict with the law are handled in accordance with the principles of child justice. The JCP is a collaboration between USAID, the Judiciary of Trinidad and Tobago and the United Nations Development  Program. (UNDP)
