The Dayton Accords defined the new institutional structure for present-day Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). It created two so-called entities, the Federation of BiH, predominantly populated by Bosniaks and Bosnian Croats, and Republika Srpska, populated by Bosnian Serbs, and a special district (Brcko), populated by the three main ethnic groups.
