On the sidelines of the high-level panel at the National Dialogue on Health Systems Funding, the Country Representative of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Dr. Nancy Lowenthal met with several donors, and the Vice-President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire on Thursday April 18, 2019 .  

Dr. Lowenthal highlighted the importance of:

  • Ensuring increased and adequate financing for primary health care;
  • Ensuring users fees are not applied to HIV/AIDS, malaria and other primary health care programs
  • Holding health systems accountable for effectiveness, efficiency and accountability to improve performance in this sector to be measured against change in health status.  

The United States of America is the largest donor to health in Côte d'Ivoire, particularly in the acquisition of inputs for HIV / AIDS and malaria. They are also the main donor of the Global Fund to fight Tuberculosis, Malaria and HIV / AIDS.
