USAID Supports Service Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities in Foča Additional BAM 60 000 for Center’s Future Work

Sarajevo, 27th November, 2017 – Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development in BiH (USAID/BiH), Peter Duffy, and the Mayor of Foča Municipality (east Bosnia) Radisav Mašić, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for mutual support of the Service Center for Persons with Developmental Disabilities future work in Foča.

The MOU provides for stronger support and participation of local authorities in the work of the Service Center “Tračak nade” which provides care to families of children and persons with developmental disabilities. During the same event, the Chief of Party of USAID’s Marginalized Populations Support Activity Jasmin Bešić, and the Director of the Association “Tračak nade” Jelena Vilotić signed a grant agreement providing the Service Center with more than BAM 60,000 for their future work.

The Center provides children with developmental disabilities with daily stays for up to four-hours. During the stay, the children are under the care of psychologists, special education professionals and social workers, and take part in creative and inclusive workshops. Families of children and persons with developmental disabilities are provided with legal and psychological counseling and support in crisis situations.
