U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Counselor Thomas H. Staal will travel to Saudi Arabia October 27-30; to Germany October 31-November 1; and to Italy November 3-5.
While in Saudi Arabia, Counselor Staal will participate in the High-Level Meeting to Review Humanitarian Mechanism in Yemen hosted by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre. Staal will also meet with international relief organizations and other humanitarian donors.
In Germany, Counselor Staal will participate in a meeting with AFRICOM Joint Directors to discuss USAID's current work in Somalia and the Africa Strategic Integration Conference on February 12-16, 2018. Staal will also meet with the European Forces Command about shared priorities, including countering violent extremism. In Italy, Counselor Staal will meet with G7 partners for a high-level meeting on global food security and then participate in the Global Nutrition Summit the following day where he will deliver remarks reiterating U.S. commitments to improve nutrition.
