The following is attributable to Spokesperson Clayton M. McCleskey:

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Assistant to the Administrator for the Office of Afghanistan and Pakistan Affairs, Greg Huger, recently traveled to Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan in support of the administration's South Asia Strategy.

Landing in Kabul on Sunday, January 21, Mr. Huger took part in the inauguration of a dormitory for female students at the American University of Afghanistan, which is part of USAID's support for advancing women's education in Afghanistan. He was also part of the inauguration of a "one-stop shop" at the Kabul International Airport, which was established with financial support from USAID to expedite the ability of Afghan businesses to reach international markets.

Mr. Huger next traveled to Dubai on January 25, where he met with the members of the Pakistani diaspora community to discuss areas of collaboration with USAID, and also met with the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce Investment Advisory Council to explore private sector partnerships in Afghanistan.

For the final leg of his trip, Mr. Huger traveled to Pakistan on January 28, where he met with Pakistani business leaders to discuss USAID's support for economic growth and private sector collaboration.
