(162k) ADS Reference 201mak
Partial Revision Date: 07/23/2020
Responsible Office: PPL
File Name: 201mak_072320
Overview
The nature of the relationships the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has in a partner country can evolve through the process of transition planning. “Strategic Transition” is a sub-set of transition planning and, as described in Automated Directives System (ADS) Chapter 201.3.2.8-C, is a means to address the future of programming in countries that already show relatively advanced levels of self-reliance. The Bureau for Policy, Planning, and Learning (PPL) must consult with Regional Bureaus to identify and designate countries that have relatively advanced levels of self-reliance and where a strategic transition should occur.
