Building on decades of partnership and collaboration with the Government of Liberia (GOL), USAID/Liberia’s health program seeks to improve the health status of all Liberians, especially the most vulnerable: women, girls, and children under age five. USAID pursues this goal through interventions that support the GOL’s Investment Plan for Building a Resilient Health System in Liberia. Our work is guided by the following objectives:
Approximately 90 percent of the buildings in Dominica were damaged or destroyed due to the effects of Hurricane Maria, according to Pacific Disaster Center estimates. The primary goal of the Liberia Media Development activity is to increase citizens’ access to independent and reliable information and empower them to engage in well-informed public discussions on issues of national importance. The program support focuses on media peak bodies, media development agencies, commercial media outlets, community radio stations, government information offices and the development of enabling media regulatory environment.
The Revenue Generation for Governance and Growth (RG3) Activity is designed to build the capacity of targeted Government of Liberia (GOL) institutions, particularly the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) and the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), to improve domestic revenue mobilization in Liberia. RG3 supports the MFDP to develop the capacity to formulate sound, predictable, and fair revenue policies. It also supports the LRA to enhance its ability to effectively, efficiently, and transparently implement those policies and carry out its revenue collection mandate
USAID is helping build the institutions and processes essential to consolidating Liberia’s democratic gains by providing support for transparent and accountable management of public resources at the national and local levels, domestic resource mobilization, an active and engaged citizenry, strong civil society and media organizations, and targeted peacebuilding efforts.
