USAID has partnered with As-Salt Development Corporation to create new tourism experiences, improve walking trails, and support local tourism businesses in order to attract more visitors and expand economic opportunities in the city. Watch the video below to see the city through the eyes of Jordan Trail thru-hikers!
Video Transcript Sara: Everybody here has been more than welcoming and wanted to help you in any way and make you feel at home.
Damian: As-Salt, I think, is unique in many ways; obviously the harmony element that people always talk about, the Harmony Trail, the coexistence between faiths and communities is there. That really gives it kind of a feeling of community pride and local pride that is not unique in Jordan but it’s really strong in As-Salt.
Saleh: The truth is, Jordan Trail is going to do great things for our country and will help boost the economy.
Mohammad: The best thing that tourists visiting As-Salt will take away is a positive impression, the warmth of our hospitality and everything good we have to offer.
Sara: I didn’t really know what to expect when coming to Jordan, [but] they’ve definitely surpassed all expectations. I can’t even put it into words. It’s been absolutely phenomenal on this trail.
Reema: Al Gherbal Restaurant is actually a historical building built back in 1827. It seeks to attract tourists from inside and outside of Jordan.
