USAID recognizes the importance of a regional approach to effectively solve transnational problems. As such, across all sectors, we partner with regional institutions, including the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its constituent bodies, multilateral organizations that are firmly established in the region, and other organizations that are regional technical leaders.
The U.S. Agency for International Development Oceans and Fisheries Partnership (USAID Oceans), a collaboration between USAID and the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC), works to strengthen regional cooperation to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, promote sustainable fisheries and conserve marine biodiversity in the Asia-Pacific region.
USAID Green Invest Asia helps agriculture and forestry businesses in Southeast Asia improve the sustainability and environmental stewardship of their operations by connecting them with like-minded investors and reducing barriers to investment. USAID Green Invest Asia supports the U.S. Government’s commitment to market-driven development, including its Indo-Pacific Strategy to foster private sector engagement on sustainable supply chains.
The SERVIR-Mekong activity uses publicly available satellite imagery and geospatial technologies to help regional institutions, governments, and citizens tackle climate-related challenges such as disaster preparedness and response, water security, and land management, aligning with the U.S. Indo-Pacific Vision to improve the management of natural resources. SERVIR-Mekong is part of a network of SERVIR hubs currently operating across the developing world.
Inform Asia promotes the generation and use of evidence-based strategic information to achieve malaria elimination in Thailand. Aligned with USAID’s Journey to Self-Reliance, Inform Asia works alongside government counterparts to achieve locally sustainable results.
